METALWORKING SAFETY:
I can assist in determining whether a machine is a Labor Code Section 4558 power press or not. See "What is a Power Press." Accident investigations and consultations have dealt with safety aspects of many kinds of metalworking machinery with many different set-ups and processes.
Power Pressbrakes set up for:
Saws Shears (Guillotine and Alligator) Grinders Drill Presses Milling Machines I have solid experience with evaluating and recommending safety devices and guarding for points of operation, moving parts, and drive mechanisms. This has included fixed and movable barrier guards, proximity devices, restraints and pull back, pull out, or sweep (now impermissible) devices. My library includes the codes and standards such as ANSI, OSHA, and ISO that apply to metalworking equipment. Also included is information relating to historical developments in machine guarding dating back to the oldest patents. My involvement in machinery accident prevention has included OSHA compliance audits and recommendations. I have taught the "Machine Guarding" and "Lock-out Tag-out" class for the National Safety Council (L.A. Chapter). My broad background has enabled me to suggest optimal solutions to machine guarding projects. |
